On October 25, a Pre-Biennale Cultural Workshop for the 2026 5th Jeju Biennale was held at Aewol Library.
Under the theme **"Bean Pillow: Moving Lives, Interwoven Cultures," the workshop explored Jeju's unique cultural heritage shaped by the coexistence of the island's native blue soybean variety and various beans introduced from northern regions.
Twenty families, including elementary school children, took part in the program alongside Chef Kim Hyo-jeong of Mujorisil and artist Yeonmi. Participants experienced the textures of different beans while creating bean pillows and bean keyrings, and shared dishes made with beans, discovering stories that connect ingredients, places, and people.
The bean pillows created by the children with their parents will be presented as part of the main exhibition of the 2026 5th Jeju Biennale.
The 2026 5th Jeju Biennale Pre-Conference will take place on November 15. As the journey toward the upcoming Biennale gradually unfolds, we invite you to join us in discovering the stories of Jeju through the language of art.
