On November 15, the Pre-Conference for the 2026 5th Jeju Biennale was held at Jeju Stone Park.
Jeju has long been an island of transformation—embracing influences from beyond its shores and reshaping them into something uniquely its own. Amid its winds, volcanic stones, myths, and the lives of its people, diverse cultures have inevitably converged, continuously giving rise to new forms and meanings.
The 2026 5th Jeju Biennale Pre-Conference began from this very perspective.
Centered on the three keywords—Stone, Myth, and Exile—the conference explored how cultural currents from the North have been transformed on Jeju, taking root and continuing to shape the island's living cultural landscape.
