Through the mingling of diverse cultures, Jeju has developed a distinctive civilizational identity all its own. The 2026 5th Jeju Biennale Pre-Exhibition Conference, The Island's Memory and Senses: Stone, Deities, Human, revisits the island's memory through these three core keywords, offering a wide-ranging discussion of Jeju's connections to northern civilizations and the processes of convergence and metamorphosis these have engendered. Through in-depth dialogue among specialists across disciplines, the conference served as a space to explore the themes and direction of the 5th Jeju Biennale.
